Off-roaders looking to secure win

Posted on September 2, 2011

SUNRAYSIA’S Aaron James and Brett Plant will look to cement their position at the top of the Australian Off Road Championship Pro Lite standings when they compete in the fourth round in South Australia this weekend.

Aaron James and Brett Plant hope to lock in the Australian Off Road Championship Pro Lites title this weekend.

James and Plant have been consistently quick this season, with a strong class lead and sixth overall, just two points behind third position.

Just before taking off for this weekend’s Pines Enduro 400, at Millicent, James said his aim was to lock in the class win this weekend, allowing him to fight for outright points at the final round later this year.

“We’ve got a good class lead, but it’s not an insurmountable lead,” he said yesterday.

“I think the first thing we need to do is secure our position in class. To do that, obviously we need to finish.

“After we’ve done that we’ll see how the outright points look and have a real go at the final round.”

James said he and navigator Brett Plant have been racing conservatively so far this year and was confident both he and Plant, and the vehicle, had more speed left ‘in the tank’ for the final round.

This weekend’s Pines Enduro 400 will be fought out over two days.

Tomorrow will be dedicated to the Dash for Cash and Top Ten Shootout, while Sunday will feature the main event.

Competitors will complete six laps of the 65 kilometre circuit, starting from 8.30am Sunday.
