Boost for Solar Hubs project

Posted on November 25, 2011

MOVES to better harness Sunraysia’s plethora of annual sunshine are gaining momentum following the announcement this week of a new partnership between Mildura Region Solar Hubs and Mildura Solar.

Led by Mildura Development Corporation, Mildura Region Solar Hubs is a collaborative effort aimed at installing 785 kilowatts of rooftop solar photovoltaic panels on Mildura homes in the current financial year.

As part of the push to reach that target, Mildura Development Corporation has been working to find the best, and affordable, technology for Sunraysia residents, and has settled on a partnership with Mildura Solar.

“Mildura Development Corporation has been working for six months researching the best available suppliers and installers,” MDC chief executive Anne Mansell said yesterday.

“We are excited to announce a huge 10 percent discount from local company Mildura Solar, for the Mildura Region Solar Hubs project, from a very competitive field of applicants from across the country.”

Mrs Mansell said up until now buying solar panels has been too complex for many residents, but hoped the new “community bulk buy process” would make the process easier, encouraging Sunraysia residents to take advantage of the new initiative.

“The Mildura Region Solar Hubs project has done all of the research and trusts that quality tradespeople will be installing a proven product, taking away the stress of individual research and understanding,” she said.

“We will provide a full service, starting with a consultation, right through to the installation and assistance with contacting your electricity provider to reap the benefits of feeding power back into the grid.”

Mrs Mansell said while there was an initial outlay to purchase the solar panels, the system would be paid off within about 10 years.

Mildura Solar Hubs Project estimates residents can save between $500 and $2000 off their electricity bills each year under the Mildura Solar deal.
