THE annual Willowfest Cricket Carnival has returned to Sunraysia with a bang this week, offering plenty of action for players and spectators alike.

Putting his own spin on proceedings yesterday is Jesse Merlo from the Merlymple (Melton-Irymple) combination, while Nick Carroll from Workers-Gol Gol gets ready to back-up his batting partner.
Played in ideal weather conditions, the carnival has attracted hundreds of cricketers from across the country, with a prize pool of close to $10,000 up for grabs.
All of Sunraysia’s cricket grounds have been used to full effect during the tournament, with plenty of runs, wickets and boundaries on offer.
A number of local cricketers have taken part throughout the week, achieving fantastic results for their respective teams.
Included have been Coomealla-Wentworth’s Luke Cullinan, who smashed an unbeaten 108 on day one of the competition, and Jarred Armsden, who made 84 playing with the Wendouree side.
Standouts with the ball have been Tony Hickey and Keegan McDonald, who both bagged four wickets for their respective teams Workers Gol Gol and Melrymple.
Prior to publication several of yesterday’s games were still in the balance, with today’s matches to conclude proceedings, and decide prize money winners.
