RILEY Payne will make his cage debut in Adelaide’s Diamondback Fighting Championship on Sunday.
The 22-year-old, who trains under Mick Moloney at Mildura MMA, said the nerves were at bay this week ahead of DFC3.
Riley has trained in MMA for the past 18 months, and said he felt as well-prepared as he could be for his fighting debut.
“I started training for the enjoyment of it, but obviously I’ve started going to the next level,” he said.
“Now it’s a chance to see if I can put the things I’ve learned into practice in the cage.
“I’m feeling really good. I’ve had a hard training camp that I feel has got me prepared for the fight.
“I’m pretty calm at the moment but no doubt once I get in the cage the adrenaline will get going. I’m looking forward to the experience.”
DFC3 begins at 5pm on Sunday. Tickets are still available and the event can be streamed live. Head to the Diamondback Fighting Championship Facebook page for further information.
