OUT Red Cliffs way they call him ‘The Sausage King’, and with good reason... with customers coming from as far away as Elmore and Broken Hill just to buy his products.
He has a passion for, and understanding of the meat industry that is second to none - and you wouldn’t expect anything less from the son of Mildura meat expert Naz Tassone.
Meet Justin Tassone, a 33-year-old father of two who has just been rewarded for his quality products by the Australian Meat Industry Council at its annual awards night in Echuca.
And it’s no flash in the pan. This affable gentle giant has been raking in the awards ever since opening up his Indi Avenue, Red Cliffs butcher’s shop almost six years ago.
His kabana has been in the top three in the north-west region every year since he opened, his traditional smoked kabana took top prize in 2008 (even beating Dad’s), he had the second best traditional kabana last year, and took top prize this year.
Then there’s his mild continental sausages. No-one has come close to him in recent times, and Justin has now taken top regional placing for the third successive year.
