A RECORD 430 riders will contest one of the toughest off-road motorcycle races in the country this weekend, the Hattah Desert Race.
The cream of Australia’s off-road riding talent has been assembled for the event which boasts almost 100 more riders than last year.
Activities get under way tonight in Mildura’s Langtree Avenue restaurant strip, between Seventh and Eighth Streets, with scrutineering and sign-on.
All 430 riders and their bikes will be on display, providing a chance for race fans to inspect the machines and meet the competitors before they put their ‘race faces’ on tomorrow.
Tonight’s activities start at 5.30pm, and will include trade displays, a live band and the Big Screens Australia mobile television screen.
The first of the on-track action gets under way tomorrow morning from 8.30, with the Junior Hattah Desert Race.
It will be followed by the Senior Prologue at midday.
