ONE of Mildura’s favourite music acts Havana Brown returns to perform at Doms Nightclub tonight.

The Aussie music party starter will ensure that locals head into the weekend in party mode, taking time out from recording her new album to return to Sunraysia.

“Mildura always has a great time and in turn I always enjoy myself,” Havana told Mildura Weekly. “Mildura knows how to party, and I can’t wait for it.

“When people at my shows are having a good time and enjoying themselves, I feed off that energy and get so much enjoyment out of it for myself.

“Mildura crowds know how to do that, I’m looking forward to getting back there!”

The 32-year-old from Melbourne has been taking the world by storm, performing for monster crowds from LA to Tokyo and beyond.

Having already made her name as a top line DJ, Havana has experienced great success branching out into her own music.

Following the success of her first studio album ‘Flashing Lights’, Havana said her new album would take a different direction, heading into more of an urban music territory.

“I’m really excited by what we’ve been putting together,” she said. “I’ve been heading in this direction slowly for a few years.

“My first few singles and albums were very much dance tracks. This time I’m heading more into the RNB, hip hop and urban influenced music.

“This is the music I grew up listening to and loving. Sometimes you just want to go in a bit of a different direction and challenge yourself a bit more. I’m singing differently and working with new writers and producers.

“To me, it’s about trying to find what works and who you gel with musically, and who you work with well in a creative way.

“When I started my sets were predominantly dance music. While I still love to play that music, it’s shifted to be more of a 50-50 balance between dance and that urban style.”

Doors open at Doms Nightclub tonight from 10.30pm.
