A 55-YEAR-OLD man has died following a two-vehicle collision near Coomealla, New South Wales, on Saturday, July 29.

Police say the man was attempting a u-turn on the Silver City Highway, near Tallawalla Road, at 7.30pm when his Ford Falcon sedan was hit by a Holden Commodore sedan, which was travelling west on the Silver City Highway.

Emergency services attended the scene, with the four occupants of the Ford and the driver of the Commodore taken to Mildura Base Hospital.

The 55-year-old driver of the Ford had critical injuries and died.

The three passengers in the Ford have been treated for minor injuries.

The 77-year-old driver of the Commodore has suspected fractured ribs, and remains in a stable condition.

A crime scene was established, with investigations continuing. A brief will also be prepared for Coroner.
