In what has come as surprising news, chairman of Mildura Airport, Peter O’Donnell, has confirmed that the Mildura Airport Board will commence a search for a new Chief Executive Officer.
The current CEO, Bill Burke, PICTURED, has been in the role for over 10 years, and was due to complete his current contract on June 30, 2019.
It is understood that Mr Burke has agreed to extend this completion date to the end of December to allow for a smooth transition to a new CEO.
Mr O’Donnell said that Mr Burke has been the CEO of Mildura Airport since it was corporatised over 10 years ago.
“During this time he has overseen substantial change at the precinct including passenger increases, a new terminal, and more recently the completion of the runway project,” he said. “Bill will be appropriately acknowledged later in the year.
“The MAPL board has committed to search far and wide to find the best candidate.
“This process will commence immediately.”
