MILDURA racing product Hamish Ribarits, PICTURED, will join forces with fellow Sunraysia exports, Todd and Rick Kelly, this weekend when he takes the wheel of a Kelly Racing Astra for Round 5 of the carsales TCR Australia Series at Winton Raceway.
The 19-year-old, who is now based in Melbourne, will replace Alex Rullo in the Astra TCR machine after his four-round deal with the team concluded.
It will mark Ribarits’ second round in the all-new TCR Australia Series, having claimed a podium finish in his maiden round at Phillip Island, driving a Melbourne Performance Centre Audi.
“I’m really excited to join Kelly Racing and have a second round in the TCR Australia Series,” he said.
“Kelly Racing is one of the biggest racing organisations in Australia and they are very professional. They have obviously had some hurdles to manage with their initial TCR program, however, when the Astras have been fast, they are a genuine threat.”
Ribarits is considered one of Australia’s best up and coming talents, currently competing in the ultra-competitive Super3 Series, sitting in third place with one round remaining.
Kelly Racing returns to a four-car TCR effort for Winton, with Ribaritis joining Andre Heimgartner in the pair of Astras, while team regular Molly Taylor will have Bryce Fullwood in the second Subaru WRX STI.
Round 5 of the carsales TCR Australia Series will be held over a unique two-day meeting format, with practice, qualifying and Race 1 held on Saturday, followed by two races on Sunday.
All three races will be broadcast live, free and in HD on SBS, as well as livestream on the TCR Australia website.
