Albert is first Car and Cash finalist!

WENTWORTH retiree Albert ‘Ned’ Kelly is still pinching himself after being named the first finalist as part of the 2020 Mildura Weekly Car and Cash Giveaway.

Albert was drawn from a pool of thousands of entrants following the giveaway’s first week, and now has a one in nine chances of driving away with a brand new Toyota Yaris courtesy of Mildura Toyota. A regular shopper at Richie’s IGA store in Wentworth, Albert said that he had entered the Car and Cash Giveaway after shopping online with the assistance of his carer, Di Smith.

“While winning the car would be great, the $250 will come in extremely handy when shopping online for groceries at Richie’s,” he said.

Now housebound due a collapsed lung and having to be connected to an oxygen tank, Albert relies on carers to help him with home duties.

“They come in twice a week to give me hand around the house and help me with the shopping, I am ‘stoked’ they remembered to enter me into the Car and Cash competition!” Albert said.

“I keep myself busy around the house and especially enjoy painting garden gnomes and other garden statues. It gives me something to do and a reason to get out of bed in the morning.”

Two $100 shopping sprees were also awarded as part of the week one draw, with Zoe Crozier, who shopped at Spotlight, and Dominic Petrolo, who shopped at the Irymple Post Office, the lucky recipients.
