WINNING WAYS: Mildura teacher Louise Kent, TOP, is the first finalist in the 2019 Car and Cash Giveaway. She is pictured with Mildura Weekly Advertising Manager, Brendan Payne, and Chemist Warehouse Pharmacy Assistant Michelle Wilkie while receiving her $250 prize. Week One runners-up, and winners of a $100 shopping spree each were Megan Gilchrist, TOP LEFT, pictured with Spotlight Store Manager, Kristel Davis and Advertising Consultant Robert Hutchinson as well as Kate Tierney, BOTTOM LEFT, also pictured with Robert Hutchinson.

Louise punches her ticket to Car and Cash Giveaway finale!

MILDURA teacher Louise Kent is still pinching herself after being named the first finalist as past of the 2019 Mildura Weekly Car and Cash Giveaway.

Louise was drawn from a pool of thousands of entrants following the Giveaway’s first week, and now has a one in nine chance of driving away with a brand new Toyota Yaris courtesy of Mildura Toyota.

Louise also received a $250 shopping spree following the win, which can be spent at any participating Car and Cash Giveaway business.

A regular shopper at Chemist Warehouse’s Fifteenth Street store, Louise said that she had entered the Car and Cash Giveaway “numerous times” over the years with no luck.

“I was absolutely ecstatic when I got the news,” she said. “I’m probably in at Chemist Warehouse once every two weeks, and always try and enter the Giveaway when it’s on.”

Louise is now in the running to win a Toyota Yaris, and will be joined by eight other finalists on Saturday, May 18, for the final draw.

“It would be fantastic to win, the family would be absolutely delighted,” she said. “I can’t thank Chemist Warehouse and Mildura Weekly enough.

“This is a great competition, and now I’m just really hopeful that I can pick out the right key on the day!”

Chemist Warehouse is no stranger to producing Car and Cash Giveaway finalists and winners, with 2017 Yaris winner Jenny Cirillo securing her place in the final draw after shopping at the pharmacy.

Chemist Warehouse Pharmacy Assistant Michelle Wilkie said the 2019 promotion had already proved a win for the business.

“We get quite a few people through the door, and everyone knows about the competition and appreciate it,” she said. “We’re excited to have the first winner… and hopefully Louise can go on and win the major prize!”

Two $100 shopping sprees were also awarded as part of the Week One draw, with Megan Gilchrist, who shopped at Spotlight, and Kate Tierney, who shopped at the Sunraysia Farmers Market, the lucky recipients.

Keith ‘over the moon’ following Car and Cash win!

MILDURA’S Keith Muldoon has been named the second finalist in the Mildura Weekly’s Car and Cash Giveaway, and now has a one in nine chance of winning a brand new Toyota Yaris courtesy of Mildura Toyota.

The 67-year-old secured his place in the final draw, set to take place at the Sunraysia Farmers Market on Saturday, May 18, after enjoying a meal and drinks at the Mildura Working Man’s Club.

“We had some visitors from Sydney visiting us,” he said. “So we brought them to the Working Man’s Club for a meal, and I bought a round of drinks and that was it!”

Keith said that he had been shocked to get the news that he was in the running to win the car.

He also received a $250 shopping spree – which can be spent in all participating Car and Cash Giveaway businesses. “I was taken by surprise when I got the news,” Keith said. “It was a welcome surprise.” Keith said that he is an “off and on” visitor to the Working Man’s Club, adding that he is usually accompanied by his wife when he does visit. Both Keith and his wife are retired, and only moved to the region four years ago. “More than likely I’ll be spending the money back here at the Workers with my  wife!” he said.

For the Mildura Working Man’s Club, this year marks the first time the local business has participated in the Car and Cash Giveaway. Two $100 shopping sprees were also awarded as part of the Week Two draw, with David O’Reilly, who shopped at McDonalds, and Tamara Hamence, who shopped at Harvey Norman, the lucky recipients.
