ERIC Oguzkaya will be first to take the plunge tomorrow, breaking the ice for Mildura Chemist Warehouse’s bold fundraising initiative to beat the Motor Neurone Disease beast.
He will be joined by local celebrities and businesspeople including Cr Liam Wood, solicitor John Irwin and Ray White Real Estate’s Brett Driscoll who got in some practice for the real thing when they will slide down a seven-metre high slide, their fall broken by a pool of ice.
“Everybody has made so many sacrifices this year – I turned 40 and could not have a celebration and I couldn’t be with mad-keen friends barracking for Richmond – but it’s still so important to give back to the community,” Eric said. “Our sliders have been chosen mostly because they are leaders in the community and can spread awareness and raise some much-needed funds.”
Chemist Warehouse joined FightMND in 2017 as a partner of the annual Daniher’s Drive Event but tomorrow will be the first time it has come to Mildura.
“We can do these great events as well as Melbourne or the other big cities,” Eric said.
With a COVD-safe plan in place, Chemist Warehouse Mildura will stream the slide online from 11am to build awareness of MND.
Fundraising merchandise is on sale at the local Chemist Warehouse stores.
