WERRIMULL are seeking redemption in tomorrow’s Millewa Netball Association (MNA) grand final.

The Magpies went down to Cardross in last year’s A Grade decider, but will be warm favourites to win the 2018 title against Gol Gol.

Werrimull have lost just the one game this season and have stars across every line, including newly-crowned MNA A Grade best and fairest Alison Callahan and runner-up Kelly Roberts. Callahan has scored a massive 466 goals for the season at an average of 29.1 per game.

Magpies captain Cassie Morris said it was nice to have the former Imperials shooter under the ring.

“We’ve got superstars all over the court, but having Ali as shooter is brilliant,” she said.

“She not only does her role, but really brings everyone else into the game as well.

“We haven’t had every player available this season, but it’s still been good from our point of view.

“We’re excited to be back in another grand final. We know Golly have a great team as well so it’s definitely going to be tough.”

After going down to Werrimull in the first semi-final, Gol Gol got up by just three goals against Cardross last week to book their place in the grand final.

Hawks coach Erin Gathercole said player unavailabilities at different times had resulted in an “up and down” season.

“Like all clubs we’ve had injuries and people away over the year, and it’s been the last few weeks we’ve been putting it together,” she said.

“I think all teams have been similar in that they’ve had different players in every game, so it’s likely the Werrimull team we play will be different to the one we’ve played during the season.”

In other grand finals, the Hawks and Magpies also do battle in A Reserve, Gol Gol are up against Meringur in B Grade, Nangiloc face Bambill in C Grade, and Cardross come up against Bambill in Juniors.

The MNA A Grade netball grand final between Werrimull and Gol Gol begins at 1pm tomorrow at Lake Cullulleraine.
