FIFTEEN people have been arrested – with Ice, cannabis and prescription medication also seized – as part of a long-term drug investigation in Mildura.

Mildura Divisional Response Unit (DRU) investigators, together with Crime Investigation Unit detectives, uniform and specialist units including the Dog Squad, executed a series of warrants late last week in a bid to target the distribution of illicit substances, namely Ice.

‘Operation Canzonas’ saw 14 warrants executed at addresses across Mildura, Red Cliffs, Irymple and Robinvale, as well as in Euston, New South Wales, between Thursday, November 8, and Saturday, November 10.

Ammunition, cash and two motor vehicles were also seized.

Fifteen people were arrested as a result, including a 28-year-old Mildura man, 27-year-old Port Melbourne man and 25-year-old Sunshine West man.

They have been charged with commercial drug supply.

Six others were charged with trafficking. They include:

• A 27-year-old Mildura man.

• A 20-year-old Mildura woman.

• A 25-year-old Irymple woman.

• A 24-year-old Irymple man.

• A 26-year-old Mildura man.

• A 34-year-old Mildura woman.

Two Mildura men, aged 25 and 26 years, were charged with burglary.

A 49-year-old Nangiloc man has been released pending further enquiries, while a 46-year-old man from Mildura is expected to be charged on summons with firearm-related offences and possess proceeds of crime.

A 28-year-old Mildura man was charged with theft and unrelated offences, while a 32-year-old Mildura woman was also charged in relation to unrelated offences.

All will appear at court at a later date.

Mildura DRU Detective Senior Sergeant Scott Anderson, PICTURED, said the results reinforced Victoria Police’s work in targeting illicit drug use and distribution.

“The distribution of illicit drugs, particularly ice, has a detrimental impact on our community,” he said. “We will continue to target, arrest and prosecute those who introduce and supply these substances into our communities.”
