MILDURA Rural City Council has appointed Martin Hawson to the role of Acting Chief Executive Officer.
Mr Hawson was formerly Council’s General Manager Community, and took up his new position last Friday.
He will replace interim CEO Phil Shanahan who has been in the position temporarily since May.
Council will restart the process to recruit and appoint a permanent CEO later this year.
Mildura Mayor, Cr Jason Modica said Martin was a highly experienced general manager who will “hit the ground running”.
“Martin has more than 20 years of local government experience,” Cr Modica said.
“His existing relationships and insight to key council priorities and projects will make for a smooth transition.”
Cr Modica acknowledged the contributions of interim CEO Phil Shanahan, and said councillors were looking forward to working with Martin in coming months.
“We are confident Martin will support both councillors and staff as we work to deliver important services, programs and infrastructure for the community,” Cr Modica said.
