IN a day of making big promises for some major projects in Mildura, the Victorian Liberal Leader, Matthew Guy has announced that  if elected, his coalition government would commit $700,000 to build an all-weather, bitumen road into the Psyche Pumps to replace the disastrous unsealed road that exists today.

This would create a safe and reliable access road for visitors to Psyche Pumps, river users and campers alike, who currently stay away from the area because the road is often unusable when it rains.

Mr Guy said that Psyche Pumps played a significant role in the establishment and history of Mildura, originally supplying water to the Mildura Irrigation.

“The Liberals and Nationals will guarantee locals, tourist, families and schools aren’t denied access to the popular tourist destination again,” he said.

Liberal candidate for Mildura, Paul Matheson said the issue had been repeatedly forgotten.

“Under a Matthew Guy Liberals and Nationals Government, this important local project won’t be left behind,” he said.
