THE INSPIRATIONAL efforts of Victoria’s adult community education learners, practitioners, volunteers and providers have been nominated for their achievements in this year’s Learn Local Awards, with three nominations from Mildura.
Zoe Support Australia’s Childcare Volunteer Team has been nominated for the Victorian Learn Local Volunteer Team Award for their work transforming lives through community education with their childcare initiative.
Zoe Support was established to provide benevolent relief of social isolation, poverty, ill health, destitution and distress of pregnant women and new mothers aged 13-25 who lack support and resources.
Georgia Benham, a learner from Zoe Support Australia has been nominated for the Victorian Learn Local Young Pre-accredited Learner Award category.
A young mother, Georgia has found great success in both education and employment as a result of participating in the programs offered at Zoe Support Australia.
Georgia has completed her Certificate IV and Diploma in Community Service and recently gained employment in disability assistance at the local TAFE.
Rebecca Cupitt, also a student at Zoe Support has been nominated for the Victorian Learn Local Young Pre-accredited Learner Award category.
Rebecca has developed a strong understanding of foundational literacy and numeracy through her participation in ‘Bridging Literacy & Numeracy’ and ‘Financial Literacy’.
She has completed a Certificate IV in Community Services, a Certificate IV in Mental Health and is currently undertaking a Bachelor of Human Services and Masters in Social Work.
