Living Histories develop a life of their own!

THE SECOND edition of the Mallee’s Living Histories has received strong support. Launched only weeks ago, the organisers are preparing for a reprint, despite the obstacles created by the coronavirus and the limits imposed on public gatherings.
The books publisher, Vernon Knight, said “The launch was largely confined to writers and storytellers, but the word got out and community response has been overwhelming”.
Mr Knight reports that there is now only a handful of copies available for sale, so a small reprint is inevitable. “The book will feature at a Rotary Convention in a couple of months and so we will certainly want more copies on hand,” he said.
Mr Knight suggests that anyone wanting to reserve a copy from the reprint should contact Princes Court or phone him directly. “I am happy to take calls and ensure that we can look after anyone who has missed out,” he said.
The latest book contains 14 life stories and a copy of the review undertaken by Monash Rural Clinical School. The review highlights the benefits of the project to residents in age care.
The project was recently featured in the ABC’s national news.
“Aside from its benefits to the individuals involved, the project is adding important chapters to the lived history of Sunraysia,” Mr Knight added.
