AS part of its celebrations to mark 130 years of serving the community, Mildura Base Public Hospital (MBPH) is excited to announce the signing of Jessica Mauboy and Busby Marou as its headline acts for its Back to Base concert to be held on the banks of the iconic Murray River at Nowingi Place next year on Saturday, March 12.

Mauboy, a multiple ARIA-Award winning, RnB-pop artist and songwriter, is one of the country’s most celebrated and loved entertainers.

MBPH CEO Terry Welch said he couldn’t be happier to have someone of Mauboy’s talent and credibility performing at the Back to Base concert.

“We have been working for months with the promoter and Jessica’s management to secure her for this event and we are so excited to have someone of her ilk agree to be part of our celebration,” Mr Welch said.

The Back to Base concert will held over the March long weekend and is part of a two-day festival the hospital is organising to celebrate its 130th birthday.

Festivities kick off on the Friday evening with dinner under the vines hosted by celebrity cook Stefano de Pieri, who is famous for his cooking show on the ABC, Gondola on the Murray and his most recent series, Australia’s Food Bowl, which aired on SBS earlier this year.

Activities start at noon with a free riverfront festival which will include local entertainment, produce from the region, food halls, kids activities, displays from businesses and a reunion of past and present hospital staff.

Celebrations will conclude with the Back to Base concert and Mr Welch is hoping the whole weekend will draw people from not only throughout the Sunraysia region, but from all over Australia.

“This is all about letting people know Mildura and Sunraysia is open for business again and hopefully Back to Base is the start of a great 2022,” Mr Welch said.

“The hospital has been such a big part of this community over the past 130 years through the many health care services it provides and the weekend will be a great chance for past and present staff and the whole community to come together and celebrate as one.”

Mauboy’s latest single ‘Glow’, is pop music made divine and magical, inspired by nostalgic textures and drawn from a feeling of confidence that runs deep in her bones and is set to be the soundtrack of summer.

She has racked up an impressive body of work, including six Top 10 Albums and 16 Top 20 Singles, more than 200 million streams globally, two ARIA Awards, 21 Platinum and nine Gold accreditations and is the first indigenous Australian artist to debut at No.1 on the ARIA Album Chart.

As a multi-award-winning artist which includes the AACTA Award, APRA, Australian of the Year, MTV Europe Music Award, MTV Australia Music Award and numerous TV roles including starring in ‘The Sapphires’, “Bran Nue Dae’ and The Voice Australia Coach 2021 and 2022.

Mauboy continues to inspire and is determined more than ever to extract the most positive and motivating elements of all that she has learned and infuse them into her new music and share it with the world.

Supporting Mauboy will be Busby Marou who have gained the reputation as one of Australia’s hardest working live bands best known for their distinctly Australian storytelling and gifted musicianship.

Their success includes millions of global streams, top 20 airplay and three ARIA-charting albums.

Busby Marou’s self-titled album is certified ARIA Gold, while their follow up album Farewell Fitzroy debuted at #5 on the ARIA albums chart and their most recent album, Postcards from The Shell House, is Busby Marou’s first ARIA #1 album.
