As Australians get back out to explore our backyard, leading hotel franchise group Choice Hotels Asia-Pac has recognised Comfort Inn Deakin Palms Mildura and Econo Lodge Mildura in Victoria, among its top 25 performers in the Asia Pacific region.

The local hotels have taken out the group’s hotly contested 2020 Gold Award, which recognises great customer service and exceptional guest experiences at properties from Melbourne to Mackay and even through New Zealand.

Comfort Inn Deakin Palms and Econo Lodge owner, Lindsay Mammone said that he and his team were very proud to have been the award recipient, especially given the very challenging year that everyone had experienced.

“We’re thrilled to have been named a Gold Award Winner for both of our properties, this being the seventh year in a row for Comfort Inn Deakin Palms and fourth year in a row for Econo Lodge Mildura, and that despite the challenging circumstances in 2020, the delivery of exceptional customer service and experience continues to be recognised,” Mr Mammone aid.

“This is a very positive start to 2021, as we navigate the recovery and look forward to embracing more certainty and hotel bookings this year.
“Our team has been incredibly resilient and innovative, so more than anything, having that effort recognised at a difficult time means a lot to us.
“It’s a great way to kick off what will be an exciting time for regional travel. We know that a growing number of people in Australia are keen to get out and explore regional destinations like Mildura and take advantage of long weekends and short breaks.”

Mr Mammone said that achieving a Gold Award and to be recognised as the top 25 performers in the Asia Pacific region, not only requires exceptional customer service and guest experience, but ensuring guests receive a memorable and personal stay, and explore all our region has to offer with confidence.

“We also want to ensure that our guests feel safe, happy and comfortable at our hotels, as such we have COVID-19 protocols in place such as the industry leading ‘Commitment To Clean’ initiative that was rolled out early last year,” he said.

“This includes heightened cleaning measures for high traffic areas, furniture arrangements to comply with social distancing, house keeping ‘on-demand’ option, hand sanitising stations, contactless check-in and check-out and more.”

Mr Mammone said that one of the benefits of being a dual owner across two Choice Hotels brands, Comfort and Econo Lodge, means that their guests travelling to Mildura have the option of receiving the same level high level of authentic, local customer service, but at hotels to suit their needs and budget.

”Comfort Inn Deakin Palms and Econo Lodge Mildura are neighbouring properties,” he said.

“We’re very well located in Mildura, both to the centre, Mildura Central shopping centre and the airport.”

Comfort Inn Deakin Palms is suitable for business guests as well as leisure guests.

The popular Botanica Restaurant is located on site at the property.

Other amenities include a pool, bar, outdoor gazebo and room service, all available at very affordable rates.

Econo Lodge Mildura also has an outdoor pool, BBQ area and room service breakfast and dinner.

There are varying room types ideal for corporate and leisure travellers, with standard and deluxe rooms available, as well as a studio apartment.

Choice Hotels Asia-Pac CEO, Trent Fraser said Comfort Inn Deakin Palms and Econo Lodge Mildura deserved recognition and celebration for continuing to deliver exceptional service, despite the pressures of the pandemic on the tourism sector.

“Congratulations to the teams at Comfort Inn Deakin Palms and Econo Lodge Mildura on this win, which I’m sure is a welcome way to start a great year as we seek to put the challenges of 2020 behind us,” he said.

“It is wonderful to recognise our top operators this year through our awards. These franchisees have applied great resilience and innovation to deliver outstanding service and create memorable experiences for their guests.”

Each property named as the ‘Hotel of the Year’ for their brand goes into the running for the Choice Hotels International Hotel of the Year awards, to be announced later in the year.
