WEEK one of the finals in both the Millewa Football Netball League and Sunraysia Women’s Football League are done and dusted, with Cardross knocked out of premiership contention in both competitions.
In the MFNL elimination final Gol Gol defeated Cardross convincingly, with Hawks coach Adam Thomson leading the way with 10 goals. After their 41 point win against the Lions, Gol Gol will now play Werrimull given competition can resume.
After their 55 point win against Werrimull on the weekend, Bambill will meet Nangiloc in the next round of finals if they are played, to decide on which team heads straight for the grand final and which team will have the second chance to make the big dance.
In the Sunraysia Women’s Football League, Werrimull issued a warning they have got what it takes, with a 56 point win over Bambill.
Amanda Lynch led the way up forward for the Magpies, kicking seven goals in the first half.
Nangiloc made an impression in their first ever final in the SWFL competition, also bagging a 56 point win at the expense of Cardross.
Nalin Moore was hard to handle in front of goals for the Demons, booting five majors.
In the next round of finals, Gol Gol, who had the bye this weekend as top team, will face Werrimull for direct entry to the grand final, while Bambill and Nangiloc will do battle to keep their premiership dream alive.
