THE long-awaited opening of the region’s new ALDI store will take place next Wednesday, April 10.

Works on the Deakin Avenue and Fifteenth Street site have been ‘on’ in earnest for the past few months, with the finishing touches being applied this week ahead of next Wednesday’s opening.

An ALDI spokesperson said that the Mildura store would feature the German supermarket giant’s new ‘Good Different’ format.

“ALDI Mildura features a number of recently introduced innovations that will offer an enhanced shopping experience for customers, with better product displays, improved navigation and a modern interior store design,” the spokesperson said.

“New features include redesigned shelving, expanded wooden produce bays, as well as extended energy efficient chillers. As energy management remains a key priority for ALDI, the store has solar panels as well as energy-efficient LED lighting.

“There will also be improved point-of-sale displays and store signage.

“We’re excited to be opening our new store in Mildura, and look forward to showing local residents the difference ALDI can make to their wallets and lifestyles.”

The addition of ALDI to the region has created 15 to 20 permanent full and part-time jobs, with the store’s economic impact also substantial. In the construction phase alone, 28 jobs were created.

“It has taken nine months to develop the new store from start to finish, including demolition, with ALDI’s investment totalling $4.5million,” an ALDI spokesperson said.

ALDI’s opening hours will be 8.30am to 8pm Monday to Friday, with extended hours until 9pm on Thursday. Weekend hours will be Saturday from 8am to 7pm, and Sunday from 8.30am to 7pm.
