BASEBALLER Blake Peterson has been chosen to represent Australia in amateur tournament “Perfect Game” in Florida.

The event will be held in September and Peterson earned his place in the team after his performance for The Provincial Drop Bears in a Gold Coast tournament earlier this year.

Perfect Game is known to provide baseballers with one of the best opportunities in the world to be scouted, an achievement which would be a dream come true for the Mildura 16-year-old, who aims to attend college in the US for the sport.

The Peterson family have spent the past five years travelling between Mildura and Adelaide to give Peterson the opportunity to play baseball at a higher level.

He’s been playing baseball since he was four years old and so the opportunity to play in the States is something that is long wanted.

Peterson specialises in pitching as well as first base, but played on the Gold Coast as a utility.

He didn’t think he performed overly well, so when the news came through that he had made the representative team, it came as a complete surprise.

Peterson’s trip isn’t funded, and so his family are asking for donations through a GoFundMe page to assist with accommodation, flights and other expenses.
