ARGUABLY the region’s most experienced theatre restaurant performance group, Ratbagz Comedy Theatre, is back for its 16th year.

This year the Ratbagz are taking on the wild, wild west with ‘Rootin’ Tootin’ Cowboys’, while also bringing their talents to the Mildura Working Man’s Club for the first time.

“We have worked together for so many years, and the connection you get with working alongside experienced entertainers is amazing,” Ratbagz director Rob Syme said.

“There’s going to be great music and great comedy…

“This show is a send-up of all the cowboy westerns, and I expect a lot of western cliches, western music, plus a whole heap of rock music and very naughty comedy… that’s what we do!”

Rootin’ Tootin’ Cowboys features Nigel Hoyle as Buck Goodfellow – the fastest and nerdiest accountant in the West.

Shay Bruton plays the Kid, Clare Taylor the prim and proper school ma’am, while Rob is the bad guy gunslinger.

Shelly Jones, meanwhile, plays Madam Nellie – the owner of the Slackass Saloon…

“There’s a few surprises and plot twists in this show, and of course our overdubbed TV ads are always a hit!” Rob said.

Rob said the group was excited to bring the unique Ratbagz experience to the Workers for the first time.

Ratbagz will be performing Rootin’ Tootin’ Cowboys on December 7, 13, 14, 20, and, for the first time, on New Year’s Eve.

Tickets are $75, and are available at the Mildura Visitor Information and Booking Centre, or telephone 5018 8380.

The night includes a two-course meal, and the return of ‘Ratbagz Unplugged’ following each show. Those coming along are encouraged to dress up in ‘Cowboy and Indian’ style.
