A MAN is in custody following an alleged series of shootings in Red Cliffs and NSW yesterday afternoon (Tuesday, October 30).

Police investigators have been told that an 82-year-old woman was located with a fatal gunshot wound at a Snowy Avenue property about 12.30pm. Later in the afternoon, a man was found dead at a NSW property on Rufus River Road, west of Mildura.

A 58-year-man was then located at a property near Lake Victoria, NSW, about 3pm. He had sustained what is believed to be self-inflicted injuries, and was taken to a Victorian hospital in a critical condition under police guard.

The exact circumstances are yet to be determined, however police are not looking for anyone else in relation to the incidents. All parties are believed to be known to each other.

Homicide Squad detectives from both Victoria and New South Wales are continuing to investigate.
