WENTWORTH Shire Council has named its 2020 Australia Day Ambassador, with Australian actor, writer and director, Rhys Muldoon, PICTURED, taking on the role.
Mr Muldoon will participate in the Shire’s Australia Day events, joining Wentworth Shire Council Mayor Melisa Hederics to present Australia Day Awards to residents who have been recognised for their contributions to the community.
Mr Muldoon’s career encompasses film, television, theatre, radio, comedy and journalism. He is known for his starring role in the hit television show ‘House Husbands’, and most recently seen in the ABC series ‘Les Norton’.
Other credits include McLeods Daughters, Blue Heelers, Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries and as a long-time presenter on Play School.
Cr Hederics urged Wentworth Shire residents to join in this year’s Australia Day community festivities, with events planned across the Shire.
This includes an event planned for the Wentworth Rowing Club lawns, where a flag-raising ceremony will be held at 7.30am, followed by breakfast and entertainment with live music and a barbecue breakfast.

Pooncarie Pioneer Memorial Park will also host an event from 8am to 10.30am, which will encompass a cooked breakfast, meanwhile, the Dareton Senior Citizens Clubrooms will host an afternoon tea from 2pm to 5pm.
