AQUARIUS Apartments and Cabins and the Commodore Motel are calling on their guests, and Sunraysia residents and businesses in general, to donate personal hygiene products to assist fire-fighters and those affected by the bushfires across Australia.
Aquarius Apartments and Cabins and Commodore Motel manager, Jordan Faulkhead, said the businesses had teamed up with Pinchapoo – one of the largest national not-for-profit suppliers of personal hygiene products to those in need as part of the initiative.
“We really want to support their work distributing essential personal hygiene packs to fire crews and those who have lost their homes in the devastating bushfires,” Ms Faulkhead said.
“We will be donating all unused amenities from our checked-out rooms for the month of January to assist the cause.
“We are also asking our guests to donate the amenities that they don’t use during their stay with us.
“Both of our properties are the North West Victoria collection points for motel amenities and store-bought toiletries, which will be sent to Pinchapoo headquarters in Melbourne to be distributed as soon as possible to the firefighters who have been working tirelessly, and to those who have lost everything.
“I urge locals and businesses to join us by delivering any personal hygiene products into baskets found at reception at either property.”
Ms Faulkhead said that public support of the initiative had been nothing short of extraordinary since it was launched on social media.
“Tankard Dental have kindly donated kids toothbrushes and toothpaste, which is urgently needed, but we are keen to work with more local businesses to get as many essential personal hygiene packs delivered as soon as possible,” she said.
Ms Faulkhead said the Commodore Motel will also host an Australia Day breakfast on Saturday, January 25, from 7am, with the event to act as a further fund-raising initiative.
“All personal hygiene products are desperately needed, but items most in need are kids dental products, pads and tampons, roll-on deodorants and razors,” she said.
“A financial donation can also be made, with personal hygiene products to be purchased on the donor’s behalf.”
Financial donations can be made via the Pinchapoo website www.pinchapoo.org.au.
