Round Three of the Sunraysia Women’s Football League competition is done and dusted.

Bambill dealt Gol Gol their first loss of the season, while Cardross were in great form against Meringur and Werrimull took the points over Nangiloc, albeit marginally.

Gol Gol had been the real surprise packet so far this season and many would have had them as favourites last weekend against Bambill.

Down on numbers through injuries and unavailability, the Hawks were able to stay with the Saints for the first half, before running out of legs.

Jorja Oborne and Melissa Bailey, contributing two goals each, led their team to victory, as the Saints marched on – 6.10 (46) to 4.3 (27).

Cardross recorded their first win of the season after playing Meringur.

Annie O’Rourke and Courtney Sandiman, both with three goals, led the Lions up forward, while Alinta Beattie was the only player to get a major score on the board for the Roos.

At the Lake, Werrimull headed into their game against Nangiloc cautiously optimistic.

To the Demon’s credit, they at times took the game right to the Magpies and would have been relatively happy with their 15 point loss – 5.7 (37) to 3.4 (22)

Danita Lane was great for the Magpies once she moved into the forward line, while first gamer Sharmaine Reilly was strong through the midfield.

For the Demons, they were led by the experience and talent of Bendigo Pioneers recruits Chantelle Mitchell and Jemmika Douglas.

Tonight, it’s first faces second as Werrimull travel over the bridge to meet Gol Gol at home.

The Magpies will have to play a more impressive game than last week if they are going to get the win this week and given they have more of their regular team available, you can expect the Hawks to throw everything at their opponents.

In other games Nangiloc face Cardross at home and Meringur and Bambill meet at the Lake.

Cardross haven’t really hit their straps yet this season and Nangiloc showed their potential last weekend against Werrimull, so you can expect this content to be an interesting one.

At the Lake, Bambill can be expected to get the win against Meringur as they struggle to find form.

Tips: Werrimull, Cardross and Bambill.
